How to choose a Dance Studio for your kid?

There are many different dance studios to choose from. How to choose one dance studio from a big list?

When choosing a dance studio for your child there are a few things that you have to think about:

Ballerina
1. How old is your child? If child is young then closest dance studio to your home with a large variety may be a good choice.

2. What dance style your child wants to enrol in? This partly plays into the age category as well. If your child wants to start in jazz, ballet or something of that sort there may be age restrictions or depending on the dance studio, a co requisite of ballet or another style of dance.

3. How much are you able to spend for dance studio? If it is for a young child and really all you want to do is dip their feet in the dance world but aren't sure you want to spend a lot of money then look into your local recreation facilities or small dance studios. Sometimes they offer dance programs that only run for eight weeks at a time. This can be good if you are enrolling a young child as it is not a long commitment like 8 or 9 months like at a dance studio, it is completely recreational so the child will enjoy it, and it doesn't cost as much.

4. Why are you enrolling your child into dance studio? Some children start dance as a way to build communication skills and friends outside of daycare or school. Some children take dance classes because they really want to be involved in it. This will also help base your decision on how recreational of a dance studio you would like to use. Think about how your child reacts to critique and a somewhat strict environment. If your child is easily upset maybe a prestige ballet class at one of the most renowned schools isn't the best place to start.

5. Selecting a teacher. Parents should be careful when choosing a ballet teacher for their children. A poor teacher not only is unable to teach ballet well, but also may cause the students physical harm. To please parents, he or she may force beginners to learn the difficult movements and positions of ballet too soon. For example, a girl should not be taught to dance sur les pointes (on the toes) until her feet are strong enough. She must first have a few years of training to develop her foot and leg muscles. Short cuts in training can cause serious and even permanent physical damage. Good teachers go slowly. They want to produce good dancers, not to assure parents that their children are unusually gifted.

And last but not least make sure this is a two way commitment. If you choose to enrol your child you are also agreeing to make the commitment of having them to all of dance classes, so make sure you are able to follow through with this commitment. Shop around and find a dance studio that best suites the schedule of all involved.
